About National School Sport Week
Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week, delivered in partnership with the Youth
Sport Trust, is a week-long sporting celebration for schools across Britain,
inspired by the power and inspiration of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic
Games. In 2011, more than 4 million young people took part in Britain’s biggest
school sport event.
The 2012 week takes place from 25 – 29 June 2012 and this year
our theme is all about staging your own Games.
Registered schools will receive access to some helpful resources to help bring
the excitement of London 2012 to your school, including how to stage your own
Games, host a Torch Relay, plan an Opening and Closing Ceremony and how to
engage young people in a wide range of sports. You’ll also be able to register
for additional resources so your school can celebrate London 2012 World Sport
Day on the opening day of National School Sport Week.
Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week not only helps fulfil school objectives
for PE and sport, but can be used across the curriculum to create excitement
around the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and help young people live
the Values of the Games.
Taking part in this national event will help you:
- Provide opportunities for young people to try new sports and feel part of the
London 2012 celebrations
- Raise the profile of sport among young people, parents and colleagues.
- Demonstrate your commitment to working towards the Healthy Schools agenda:
- structured physical activity.
- a whole school approach.
- engaging parents and carers.
- Celebrate your school’s sporting achievements over the last 12 months.
- Create stronger links with local clubs, other schools and the wider community
Join in the fun, excitement and inspiration on the final countdown to London
2012 by registering for the week here.
