100,000 ‘Wake-up and Shake-up’
Lancashire School Sport Partnerships organised a giant Wake-up and Shake-up event for over 100,000 pupils.

Focus

  • To launch and raise the profile of Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week across Lancashire.
  • Raise awareness of the work undertaken by Lancashire School Sport Partnerships and communicate the five hour offer to young people and families.

Who took part?

  • 100,000+ young people.

What happened?

  • Dance teacher and students from Glenburn Sports College choreographed a Wake Up and Shake Up routine that was developed into an easy to follow DVD, performed alongside local radio station ‘Rock FM’ Breakfast Show presenters.
  • DVD distributed to all schools in Lancashire for young people to learn the piece.
  • A radio marketing campaign on ‘Rock FM’ delivered key messages to young people and their families in the build up to and during Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week.
  • Secondary schools used young leaders to support the delivery of Wake Up and Shake Up in local primary schools.
  • On Monday 29 June 2009 at 9.15am ‘Rock FM’ launched the event by playing the three songs which make up the Wake Up and Shake Up routine.
  • Six-time Paralympian Sascha Kindred visited Corpus Christi School to support the event and motivate and inspire pupils.
  • Thousands of young people from across Lancashire simultaneously performed the same routine at the same time and kicked off a week of exciting activities across the county.
