About the Youth Sport Trust
The Youth Sport Trust passionately believes that sport changes lives. Established in 1994, the UK’s leading youth sport charity strives to build a brighter future for young people through PE and sport. Their mission is to improve both the quantity and quality of PE in schools and to inspire and engage all young people in sporting activity – whether it is to lead, coach, compete, play or volunteer. National School Sport Week was created by the Youth Sport Trust in 2008 to encourage all young people to take part in sport and to celebrate their sporting achievements.

Get Set for London 2012
Get Set is the official London 2012 education programme for schools and colleges across the UK. Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week is part of Get Set + and is featured within PE and school sport theme.
By taking part in Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week, your school is eligible for a range of exclsuie benefits from London 2012. Simply tell London 2012 about your
National School Sport Week activities in your application to join the Get Set network, the London 2012 reward and recognition scheme for schools and colleges. Do this by
16th December 2011, and you will be guaranteed an allocation of free tickets to the Games through the London 2012 Ticketshare initiative. There are lots of other benefits to joining the network, including e chance to win tours of the Olympic Park and visits from athletes, as well as a plaque and certificate and use of the London 2012 education logo
The Get Set website provides free learning resources for 3-19 year olds to explore the Olympic and Paralympic Values and play their part in London 2012. There are currently over 19,500 schools and colleges registered.

Young Ambassadors
The Young Ambassador movement commenced in 2006 following London’s successful
Olympic bid where Lord Coe promised the UK would use the power of the Olympic
and Paralympic Games to inspire millions of young people to become involved in
sport.
Central to the Young Ambassadors programme is the principle that young people
aged 14-19 drive opportunity, engagement and change for other young people aged
5-19.
The role of a Young Ambassador involves increasing participation in school sport
and PE, spreading the word of the Olympic and Paralympic Values and promoting
the 2012 Games.
The Young Ambassador programme is managed by the Youth Sport Trust.
