Lloyds TSB Official Partner to the 2012 Olympic Games
Sports Pledges

Over 3 million pupils across the UK made Sports Pledges to help them commit to achieving their goals during the week. Their Sports Pledges helped them gain support from their families in achieving their goals.

About Sports Pledges

  • Pupils were able to set as many Sports Pledges as they wanted.
  • Sports Pledges were fulfilled in and out-of-school.
  • Sports Pledges were made in the lead up to, and during, the week.

Examples of the kind of Sports Pledges that were made:

  • Do more sport: An extra hour of practice each week before, during and after Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week.
  • Try a new sport: Learn how to play Volleyball (or any other Olympic or Paralympic sport).
  • Physical activity: Dance in our week's Opening Ceremony.
  • Lead: Organise an intra-school competition.
  • Volunteer: Coach others how to play my sport.
  • Personal Best: Achieve a new personal best in swimming.
  • Living the Olympic Values: Play by the rules and show respect to officials.

Examples of the kind of Sports Pledges made by classes, groups or teams:

  • Group: Learn the Olympic and Paralympic Values and present them to our class and at the week's Opening Ceremony.
  • Group: Adopt an Olympic or Paralympic sport and learn about its history, growth and success.
  • Team: Compete against another school in a sport which is new to all of us for example, Handball or Water Polo.
  • Class: Adopt local sporting heroes, and record their progress in training and competitions.
  • Class: Create a video of our school’s activities during the week and show this at the week's Closing Ceremony.
