The Journey to London 2012 – Staging your Games

During this school year as we get closer to London 2012, we are giving you the chance to be part of something special including the Olympic Torch Relay, National School Sport Week and London 2012 World Sport Day.

This is your opportunity to celebrate all that the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games has to offer in your school and use the power and excitement of the Games to inspire young people, parents and your community to get involved.

So register now for National School Sport Week to stage your Games!

Olympic Torch Relay

As the education partner of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay, Lloyds TSB are offering some unique opportunities for you and your pupils to be a part of the Olympic Torch Relay celebrations – including the chance to carry the Olympic Flame or win a cheer kit.

Through our Flame Followers programme, we’re giving you resources to help you teach your pupils about the Relay, and create your celebrations as it passes through your community.

All schools registered for National School Sport Week will also receive the Flame Followers resource pack , and have the chance to be a part of the action as the Flame travels for 70 days on its historic journey through the UK, before arriving at the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games on 27 July.

Your school could stage your own Torch Relay to signal the start of your own Games and National School Sport Week!

London 2012 World Sport Day

You and your pupils can welcome the world to the UK on the opening day of National School Sport Week, in celebration of the world’s most talented athletes coming to the UK in 2012 for the world’s largest festivals of sport – the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Through London 2012 World Sport Day, which is part of National School Sport Week and part of the London 2012 Get Set Education Programme, young people can learn about the teams, athletes and culture of the 205 competing nations and demonstrate how London 2012 has created friendships between young people around the world.

And during the rest of National School Sport Week, young people will also be able to take part in more sport, try new Olympic and Paralympic Sports and live the Values of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

If you are registered for the Get Set network and National School Sport Week, you will receive the free London 2012 World Sport Day resources.
